Computational population genetics / genomics

Our main research themes deal with the evolution of genetic diversity in populations. We specialize in the development of computational methods to study the combined effects of various evolutionary forces on molecular diversity, such as the occurrence of new mutations, natural selection, demographic variation and migration.

Our main research topics are:

  • making inferences on human history and evolution through the analysis of their genetic diversity, with a special focus on European populations;
  • developing spatially-explicit computer simulations to manage ancient genetic and genomic data retrieved from fossils;
  • modeling hybridization processes in a population dynamics context;
  • disentangling the effects of demography and natural selection on the shaping of molecular diversity.
