I am very grateful and honoured to be one of the recipients of the 2016 IGE3 PhD salary award. I would like to thank the committee for their interest in my project and my thesis director Prof. Mirko Trajkovski for giving me the opportunity to work on it. My gratitude also goes to all my lab members and collaborators for their help and support, with a special thanks to Dr. Ozren Stojanovic. This award will help me to keep on pursuing my research on the importance of the gut microbiota.

I am extremely honored and grateful that the iGE3 Committee has selected me for a PhD Salary Award. I’d like to thank Professor Florian Steiner for his help and enthusiasm as we developed the project, and everyone in the Steiner lab for being great colleagues that inspire me every day. Receiving this award is extremely motivating and I will work hard to translate my research into meaningful results.
