11th iGE3 PhD Salary Awards

For graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 faculty members.

We are happy to announce the 11th round of the iGE3 PhD Salary Awards. As in the past years these stipends will be given competitively to graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 members, for projects with a strong genetics or genomics component.

The graduate students have to be in the 2nd or 3rd year of their studies (on December 1, 2023), and the salary awards will be provided for 2 years, non-renewable. The final selection will be made by an external (non-UNIGE) advisory board. The stipends should be acknowledged in publications as iGE3 PhD Student Awards.

Please note:

  • one application per laboratory will be accepted per call;
  • students from laboratories with awardees from 2022 are not eligible, i.e. labs of Profs Marguerite Neerman-Arbez, Simone Becattini and Ivan Rodriguez;
  • the announcement of the final selection will be made by Wednesday, September 20, 2023;
  • the successful applicants will present their project at the 12th iGE3 Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Louis-Jeantet Foundation in Geneva;
  • the contracts will start on Friday, December 1, 2023.

It is our pleasure to congratulate the winners of the iGE3 PhD salary awards 2022 !

At the end of this 10th round of selection, 3 PhD awards could be given to graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 faculty members for the excellence of their application.

Le Centre Facultaire du Diabète de la Faculté de Médecine de l'Université de Genève propose sa 19e journée portes ouvertes, le jeudi 10 novembre 2022, de 9 h 30 à 18 h, au Centre Médical Universitaire (CMU). Cet événement, qui s’inscrit en marge de la Journée mondiale du diabète, est une occasion unique pour le grand public et les écoles d’aller à la rencontre des chercheurs, chercheuses et clinicien-nes, de comprendre les habitudes de vie et les mécanismes biologiques favorisant le diabète, et de découvrir les dernières recherches sur cette maladie.

11th Annual Meeting of iGE3

Monday, November 7, 2022 • 8:30 AM - 6:20 PM
Louis-Jeantet Foundation - Auditorium - Geneva
Hybrid via Zoom

This year's meeting will have a special focus on single cell sequencing. As in previous years, this 11th edition will bring together iGE3 members to meet and discuss the future of basic and applied genetics and genomics in different organisms. The meeting will feature two keynote lectures by invited international experts, presentations by seven iGE3 and UNIGE members, and will also be an opportunity for the three winners of the 10th iGE3 PhD Salary Awards to present their research projects.

  • The meeting will be held in the Auditorium of the Louis-Jeantet Foundation in Geneva, as well as transmitted live online via Zoom. The Zoom invitation will be communicated to the registered attendees by email in due time in November.
  • Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.
  • Registration deadline is Thursday, November 3, 2022 - Midday.
  • This meeting will be accredited as a continuing education half-day for animal experimentation.

  • one application per laboratory will be accepted per call;
  • students from laboratories with awardees from 2021 are not eligible, i.e. lab of Profs M. Barberon, P. Castets, C. Jandus, E. Nagoshi, S. Nef and R. Pillai;
  • the announcement of the final selection will be made by Monday, October 10, 2022;
  • the successful applicants will present their project at the 11th iGE3 Annual Meeting on Monday, November 7, 2022;
  • the contracts will start on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

We are proud to announce and congratulate the winners of the iGE3 PhD salary awards 2021 !

At the end of this 9th round of selection, 6 PhD awards could be given to graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 faculty members for the excellence of their application. It is interesting to note that all winners are female students, as in 2020.
